Feng Shui first aid for job loss

I recently joined the many, many people who have lost their jobs. Feng Shui can’t prevent life from happening to us and there’s much happening in the world today that we can’t control. So now what?

Aside from taking the practical steps needed when facing job loss, Feng Shui can help to provide you with an environment that will best help you to succeed. And to provide comfort in the meantime.

I recommend treating job loss like a breakup, complete with mixed emotions and a sense of loss. Maybe it was expected and maybe it was mutual (or not). Your life, and subsequently your home, was likely structured around that job.

Here are my Feng Shui recommendations for the first 24 hours:

  1. Take a shower - use the fancy products that you’ve been saving for a special occasion. Break out the masks that usually take too long.

  2. Clean something in your home - start with somewhere that may have been neglected and really needs it. Or start with the entrance, where energy (and opportunities) enters your home.

  3. Do your favorite things - I love to read in bed with a cup of tea. Wear your favorite socks or the color that always looks good on you. Indulge in a healthy way to give yourself an emotional boost.

  4. Go for a walk - managing your own mood and energy is paramount after a loss. Being outside, especially in nature, is so helpful. I always find that I’m able to process emotions and think more clearly while moving.

How are you taking care of yourself? I’d love to hear what has helped you.
